올리비아 뉴튼 존

어릴 때 가장 좋아했던 가수를 꼽으라면 단연 Olivia Newton John 이었습니다.

얼마전 유튜브를 돌아다니다 올리비아 뉴튼 존의 영상을 보니 옛날에 무척 좋아했던 가수인데

지금도 참 멋지구나 하는 생각을 하게 되더군요.

 

2005년도 라이브 영상이라고 합니다.  목소리가 조금 변하긴 했어도 무대매너와 가창력은 여전하네요.

흥행에서는 실패한 영화 Xanadu 중에서.

그녀는 가수로 데뷔하여 이름을 알린 뒤 뮤지컬 영화 그리스를 통해 세계적인 명성을 얻게

되었습니다.   그리스에서 존 트라볼타가 분한 대니의 상대역, 18세의 여고생 샌디로 출연한

올리비아 뉴튼 존은 촬영 당시 나이가 29세였다죠.  서양인으로서는 놀라울 정도의 동안입니다.

지금도 전혀 환갑으로 보이지 않는 외모죠.

젊었을때는 상당히 날카로운 이미지였는데 지금은 뭐랄까.. 예전 같은 얼굴이지만 좀 더

편안하고 여유로운 이미지라고나 할까요?

나이가 들어가면서 얼굴에 책임을 진다는 이야기가 있던데 아마 마음의 상태를 비춰주는

표정이 장기간 동안의 얼굴 형태를 좌우하는 게 아닌가 싶네요. 

젊었을 때에는 정말 아름다웠으나 나이가 들면서 탐욕이 가득한 얼굴로 변해가는 사람도 있고

젊었을 때는 그다지 두드러지지 않았으나 나이가 들면서 인품이 느껴지는 얼굴도 있습니다.

물론 외모가 전부는 아닙니다만 아름답고 못생기고를 떠나서 얼굴과 몸짓에서 느껴지는 인상은

사람이 살아나가는데 중요한 부분의 하나임을 부인할 수는 없겠죠. 

세월 앞에 장사 없다지만 그 세월을 가꿔나가는 것도 지혜겠지요.
